The Big Wedding

Throughout this area are references to the Maragoto culture. The origin may date back to the 7th c when King Mauregato and the Visigoths became isolated in this remote area during the Arab invasions or they may have descended from the Berber tribes who came as part of the Moorish invasion and just became "misplaced" in this remote mountainous region. There are fewer than 4,000 and they are trying to celebrate their traditions so imagine our thrill at having arrived to witness one of their traditional weddings. No, they didn't invite Jerry to sing but was delighted when he found out that they are known for their delicious cakes and chocolate.
